Music?

The Arkansas Center for the Book is wondering . . . what kind of music do you associate with the Sookie Stackhouse series?

Country? Blues? Folk?

Are we choosing good music to play on the audio clips that we're doing of each book? Let us know what you think!

Leave us a comment or send us an email: crystal@library.arkansas.gov.

Thanks!

  1. Gosh, the music would HAVE to be Cajun Country - including their much loved Ziedego (I know that is NOT how you spell that - sorry!) That is more the grass roots/backcountry sound that they would love most - after that . . .maybe new country .. . and, of course, Elvis - skinny and fat! . . (and un-dead Bubba!)

  2. I don't really think of new country at all when I think of the Sookie series, but then again, I am not a fan of Country music whatsoever.

I do think that a little Cajun Country & Zydeco would be very fitting though. I like Blues too.

Some great classic rock would be nice...
Creedence Clearwater Revival's 'Bad Moon Rising' has got to be in there! And I agree with the other comment about some Elvis being included :)

Perhaps some 80's Goth Rock too? Bands like Bauhaus, Siouxsie & the Banshees and The Cure.

  3. The True Blood theme song from the HBO series...that would really set the mood!!

  4. The comment above that says 'Jason' was actually from me. I didn't realize I was signed into my husbands Google account when I posted.

Anyway, even though I am not a country fan, I guess it would be pretty fitting to have some modern country in the mix too; because I am on the 9th book now and Sookie has already mentioned Country Western music like 2 or 3 times. haha.

I have not watched the True Blood series yet(I don't have cable & I wanted to finish the books before I rent the dvd's) - so I don;t know the theme song to the show, but I think that is a good idea anyway :)
